Dr. Picariello is a graduate of University College Dublin School of Veterinary Medicine in Dublin, Ireland. Originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Dr. Picariello spent her high school time working at Hyannis Animal Hospital as a kennel attendant and veterinary assistant. She continued in this capacity during her undergraduate years at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, where she majored in Biology and Music. Dr. Picariello completed externships at UC Davis, Troytown Equine Hospital in Kildare, Ireland (equine referral medicine and surgery), and MSPCA Angell Memorial (Emergency and Critical Care).
Dr. Picariello spent the first 5 years of her veterinary career in a busy rural mixed animal practice where she provided ambulatory equine, bovine, and other large animal services as well as small animal care. She also has a passion for travel and spent some time volunteering in Arusha, Tanzania providing veterinary relief in livestock management. At Finger Lakes Animal Hospital, Dr. Picariello provides veterinary care for small ruminants and barnyard pets and also maintains USDA-APHIS veterinary accreditation.
Dr. Picariello has a practical and hands-on approach to patient care and client education. She also enjoys mentoring and training externship students. Dr. Picariello's interests include responsible pet ownership, disease prevention, pain management, soft tissue surgery, in-home hospice and compassionate care. She is associated with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS), Finger Lakes Veterinary Medical Association (FLVMA), and International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care.
When time permits, Dr. Picariello enjoys horseback riding, crossfitting, running, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her two children and her pets. She has a handsome Rhodesian Ridgeback named Jackson and a cat named Nacho.
