Katrina Picariello, MVB – Chief of Staff
Dr. Picariello is a graduate of University College Dublin School of Veterinary Medicine in Dublin, Ireland. Originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Dr. Picariello spent her high school time working at Hyannis Animal Hospital as a kennel attendant and veterinary assistant. She continued in this capacity during her undergraduate years at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, where she majored in Biology and Music. Dr. Picariello completed externships at UC Davis, Troytown Equine Hospital in Kildare, Ireland (equine referral medicine and surgery), and MSPCA Angell Memorial (Emergency and Critical Care).
Dr. Picariello spent the first 5 years of her veterinary career in a busy rural mixed animal practice where she provided ambulatory equine, bovine, and other large animal services as well as small animal care. She also has a passion for travel and spent some time volunteering in Arusha, Tanzania providing veterinary relief in livestock management. At Finger Lakes Animal Hospital, Dr. Picariello provides veterinary care for small ruminants and barnyard pets and also maintains USDA-APHIS veterinary accreditation.
Denise Kurtz, DVM
Dr. Kurtz received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences and Biological Sciences from the University of Vermont in 2002 and received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2007.
Dr. Kurtz's veterinary interests include canine and feline internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and even some exotic animal medicine! She enjoys working not only with cats and dogs, but also potbellied pigs, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small mammals. Dr. Kurtz loves working with owners to ensure the best feeding plan and home environment set up to allow these special pets to thrive. She is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS), and also maintains USDA-APHIS veterinary accreditation.
Emilia Monachino, DVM
A Rochester NY native, Dr. Monachino received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She was a 2002 graduate of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Monachino remained dedicated to continuing her education and in 2010, she was proud to receive certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners for Canine and Feline Practice.
Dr. Monachino strongly believes in staying current in available medical diagnostics and treatment options. She feels that medicine needs to be tailored to each individual patient. Dr. Monachino enjoys working with cats, dogs, small mammals, birds, reptiles, and occasionally other exotic species. Her primary veterinary interests include internal medicine, preventative care, and ultrasound. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS), and also maintains USDA-APHIS veterinary accreditation.
